about

This was a song about my pen pal, Jessica Dockery. She is from Atlanta, Georgia area...I must have been 20, things were not going well for her at home and she had been thrown out. She had broken into her parents house to call me and make plans to come to RI. Her mother came home and caught her there and flipped out! I had never heard anything like it and I never heard from her again. I wrote the beginning of that song immediately after she hung up. I finished it years later convinced I would never talk to her again. Got to love Facebook. We are currently friends again. It was originally a country song and George took it to the Motown sound. I love old R&B, it was an easy decision. He changed the chord phrasing and I begged for a keyboard solo haha done!

lyrics

JD

My dear angel, I couldn't have known what they've done. Screamed in the face of my love and what with they do when you're gone...
Just for your love, what would they do...
Just for your love, they'd starve...

Now you run away, where life is from day to day but everywhere it's the same, you know you'll be back again...
Just for their love, you'll go home...
Just for their love, you'll learn to sacrifice...

You will always be beautiful to me...

My dear angel, my god it's been so long and we're different people now...I hope you find out, where you belong...

You belong with me...
